Henry, while much of what you say is true, I would carp over a couple of things.
Firstly Obama's legacy will always include his contribution to universal health care for the American people whether the conservatives like it or not. While I have long disappproved of US foreign policy especially the use of drones for extrajudicial killing, I like what Obama has attempted to do in many other areas. Sure his success has been limited but you quite correctly point out the power of opposition forces.
Secondly, I question that the vast majority of Americans would vote Trump into power even though, as you say, it must gall the power brokers that their own handpicks are currently languishing...
