Interesting article. I was under the impression that assault rifles only differed from hunting rifles in cosmetic appearance. They look like war weapons so people assume they're deadlier than hunting weapons.
They are built for different purposes. A serious hunter isn't going to take an AR 15 to shoot big game as it doesn't have the long range accuracy or the stopping power of a hunting rifle. What it does have is the ability to rapidly unload at short range onto small targets.. almost making it custom designed for these awful events.
Even more of a reason to scrap them.
