I think there's intelligence but little logic in US conservatism now. And simply no moral core. No touchstone to guide them ethically. That's all gone.

US conservatives will give up every conservative principle in exchange for a quick victory. Belief in Christian principles, financial prudence, rule of law, the US Constitution, family... Everything is thrown under a bus to get a win. That was evidenced in the Capitol insurrection.

Men like Ted Cruz can have his wife and father smeared by Trump and yet later his craven fawning over Trump is sickening. His calculation is that will get him votes. But at what cost?

Conservatives conserve. They conserve what is best from the past, and use that as a touchstone for the future. US conservatives are not conservatives anymore. They're far right radicals.
