Catgut thanks for posting this. How would you like to be a retired ambassador of one of the major powers?
I am sure they retire disillusioned and broken and they'll look at anything which happens in international politics with the knowledge they acquired over the course of their profession that nothing is what it seems to be on the surface, that politicians, people, journalist lie to the umpteenth degree in order to achieve a certain reaction/outcome, that motives are mostly greed and power, that the fate of nations and individual people, civilians, children are nothing but bargaining chips in the hands of the moneyed and powerful - no real pity, care etc. gets a chance, in fact that the disasters they have had to chaperon, guide, bomb-proof always serves some other Master than they probably understood to be in charge at the beginning.
Or else they are cynical from the start - but watching Lavrov on Friday was either a genuine show of sadness/anger or acting in the grand Shakespearean tradition. This guy is wonderful, but looks all of the above - thanks for posting this video.
So far - the sky is still holding up.
