I exaggerated to get the point across. Ive never lived in the States but have travelled there extensively and once spent 5 weeks in NYC.
I think Americans are a unique people and are greater risk takers than Australians (you may disagree). There are a lot of characteristics - too many to mention - that make them more fearless. It probably explains America's greatness ie the superpower that that the country is, and has been the world dominant for almost 150 years. If you take risks you get rewards.
