The same reason they follow Trump with undying devotion. It's easier for many in life to religiously follow a cult figure and let them think for you, not have to think for themselves or question others themselves. It allows them to justify it in their own brain without really having to think about it. This seems to be a particularly potent issue in USA where people are generally very gullible. You always know this is the case when someone will NEVER question their leader under any circumstances. There is no person in the world who, if they think for themselves, should ALWAYS agree with the leader of their political persuasion. But with Trump followers right here on HC we see it ALL THE TIME. What does tell you?
