note how harvery norman having been reporting sales on a monthly basis.....to prove how bad things are ??

and then the announcement this week about closing stores...one must think its really going very badly !

but hidden in that note was the fact they are opening new stores in different areas.....sounds like normal business to me....demographics change and so do consumers....I think the HN stores cater to the younger ones..with the interest free purchases on everything.....the furniture is way overpriced...people who can least afford it buy the big plasma screen etc...

...or if the truth be known...and finally revealed...the reason for all of the above is harvey norman is up for rent increases in shopping complexes...(usually tied to the cpi and locked into the leases...up a whopping 12% to sep 08)its only 2 stores....
HN do not want to pay the increase in rent...and is threatening to close stores ......playing heavy handed with the landlords......and crying poor that sales are down

Oh and since HN usually buy the stores and is the landlord...is the real reason behind all this so that HN can buy more poperties much cheaper ???? all those commercial properties that may come on the market from all the listed trusts and others in trouble....
see the article that states if HN pulls out it could drop the price of the premises by 60%...as HN is the anchor tenant....and would HN just love to buy the premises for a 60% discount......think this is the end game and reason for all of this.....is it ethical ??? and against a large superfund (the landlord)
see the link...commercial property punch up
    http://www.businessspectator.com.au/bs.nsf/Article/Commercial-property-punch-up-$pd20081208-M4Q6V?OpenDocument&src=sph

**it could be a thumbs up since HN hold a couple of billion dolars worth of commercial property.....and looks like they want even more...but at cheaper prices
but are they in the business of commercial property,,,or a retailer ??

ps I do not hold HN shares and never have....was going to buy once but then saw the story about his racehorses and his wife making all the decisions..oh and the fact I have never purchased in a HN store...have looked but decided it's always too expensive and I can get better value elsewhere....if you have no money, and really cannot afford it... then the interest free period must get them in
    otherwise why shop there
