Ms Bryce said she hoped that a young Australian child would eventually grow up and become hea of state.

Lets assume by young child she had in mind say 10 yrs of age presently.

Lets assume nobody becomes head of state under say 50 yrs of age.

What a silly emotionally tugging comment to make ... irrelevant really as some crusty old codger would be there first.

Ms Bryce is not entitled to make such comments from the office she holds ... don't be surprised to see her leave a little earlier than she anticipated.
