The poster session started at 1pm in New Orleans which is equivalent to 2pm on the NASDAQ. Volume and price increased on the NASDAQ at about 2.45 - someone was watching.
Some of the things in the poster that were not in the abstract that caught my eye are:
ADME studies in rats showed that high tissue levels of TRX-E-002-1 were observed 0.5-6 hours after dosing, with levels higher than the plasma concentration in pancreas, ovaries, large intestine, skin, kidneys, liver, stomach, and adrenal glands. Uptake of TRX-E-002-1 into red blood cells was minimal. In dogs, TRX-E-002-1 concentrations in gastrointestinal tissues 24 hours after dosing were at least 30 times higher than those in plasma, with the highest concentrations being observed in the colon. By 72 hours, TRX-E-002-1 levels in gastrointestinal tissues of dogs were below or close to the limit of quantification.
After being injected into the peritoneal cavity TRXE-002-1 is soon found in other tissues and organs - this may indicate that the drug could help to treat tumors outside of the peritoneal cavity eg liver metastases.
Hematological, coagulation and urinalysis assessments showed no treatment-related changes.
Coagulation parameters, serum chemistry, urinalysis and bone marrow examinations
were unremarkable.
This is IMO great if Cantrixil is to be used in combination with Cisplatin or other similar drugs which do affect those systems - you would not want to give the patient two drugs which both affect bone marrow or kidney function for example.
On the negative side 1 dog in the high dose group (out of a total of 8 in the high dose group) was put down after 14 days of treatment "following observations of muscle wasting, reduced activity, lethargy and weight loss." No other animals of either species died during the course of treatment. Obviously the other animals were put down after treatment for further assessment.
