Assuming a large 15% of population (all unvaccinated) contracting covid equally distributed accross the age groups we may have seen:
Ages 60-69 = 4366 deaths with covid
70-79 = 17783 deaths with covid
80-89 = 25433 deaths with covid
90+ = 13101 deaths with covid
So something like a potential 45000 deaths from the age groups who have to date involved about 96% of all deaths with covid and make up 21% of our population.
Most of these at risk folk were vaccinated months ago!
If any group should have been mandated for vaccination its clear who that should have been.... but no!
Assumptions used to make the above calculations are below.
Case fatality rate in Aus to September 21
Over 90 34%
80-89 22%
70-79 6.5%
60-69 1.1%
50-59 0.37%
40-49 0.1%
30-39 0.056%
20-29 0.032%
10-19 0.007%
Under 10 0.00%
Population (25,690,000)
60–69 year olds make up 10.3% of our population and have a 1.1% case fatality rate.
70–79 year olds make up 7.1% of our population and have a 6.5% case fatality rate
80-89 year olds make up 3% of our population and have a 22% case fatality rate.
90 years and over make up of our population and have a 34% case fatality rate
