Henan to complete coal resources consolidation

Central China's Henan Province, another main coal-producing area, plans to complete the restructuring of coal enterprises by the end of June 2010, sources reported.

According to the report, Henan expects to establish three large-scale coal enterprises each with annual output of 50 million tonnes by the end of 2010.

In addition, the province aims to have its major coal enterprises controlling 85 percent of the province's coal resources and yielding more than 75 percent of the province's total coal output.

The annual output of each coal mine will not be less than 150,000 tonnes.

The report added that Henan currently has 793 coal mines, of which small coal mines account for about 84.5 percent.

Henan province posted 235 million tonnes of raw coal in 2009. It is the fourth largest producer of coal in China following Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi.
