The only way I can make sense of this puzzle is that the record date is not the ex-dividend date. As the market was uninformed about the amount of the dividend until 5 November it would seem that the earliest ex div date would be the 5th November. Obviously the ex div date must precede the payout date. So ex div date could be 5th, 6th or even 7th.
Crazy that the ex-div date was not announced at the time of the dividend announcement. Perhaps a competence issue or just playing silly b---ers.
This possibility saddens me and makes me feel a little poorer.
I should have just bought a lottery ticket.
