It looks like Brian Gilbertson's ( JMS ) valuation of Tshipi is well off the mark. In fact its only worth less than 1/4 of his valuation. Investors need to remember that Tshipi is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.
It looks like more companies are looking at Tshipi after the original five (Renova, Glencore, World Metals, Citic Demang and Itochu) submitted bids. The mine's owners are looking for around $700-million, investors say, while most of the bids are thought to be around $400-million. Helping Tshipi is the fact that the mine is wildly profitable at current manganese ore prices.
