Greece is in a very strong negotiating position now. The ECB and the EU are trying to scare the population into voting YES.
If they default and leave the EU then the ECB, IMF, EU will take on huge losses.
Russia or China will then come knocking on Greece's door. This is something the US will not want nor would the rest of Europe.
Greece is strategically critical for all of Europe and for NATO.
More likely Greece will default but it will be kept within the EU. Europe has no choice because Russia and China are watching closely.
Greece is bankrupt. There is no way they can pay back the debt even if their economy grew by 10%.
