let's say a snail is making its way back to its shelter one morning and you are going for a morning walk. You are thanking your god for such a lovey day and while doing so you inadvetantly walk on the back half of the snail which dies a miserable death while it is stuck to the footpath. Would it make sense for the snail to think that you punished it for eating a leaf (which results in a form of suffering - stress to the plant)? You were ignorant of the snail.
