I just bout a whole lot on the TSX.

Here is my theory about times of stock market panics, the best stocks to buy during these times are stocks that are "perceived" to be risky but have very strong balance sheets and don't have any debt.

AVM is perfect. It has genuine problems, such as the government potentially taking 50% of the company from shareholders.

But at $1.70, even if the government takes 50% of the company it's still a good deal!

It's like the stock holders are panicky already because of everythign else, plus it's in congo, plus copper prices are crashing ... and must sell no matter what the price.

However I also wouldn't be surprised if it went to $1 which is even cheaper, and would be a screaming buy at that price.

I talked with management and they said they were not considering a stock buyback, but at $1 they could buy back and not have it affect their cash position. Most company owners are idiots when it comes to allocation of capital
