Voltaire - just one thing when I go back and have a look at the two periods - the market was on a much sharper incline in 1987 so this would mean that unless it fell very quickly, it would take longer to get back to the moving averages. Comparing the weeklies on semi log scale, the rise over the past few months has been fairly gradual.
