my understanding is that nyobolts battery replaces the usual cobalt portion of a lithium battery. So not only is it super fast charging, safer and packs a higher energy density it also has the benefit of being way higher ranked on the ESG side of things compared to the vast majority of current batteries that contain cobalt.
A huge amount of effort has been put into using less or no cobalt across the EV space. This is mostly driven by the cost of cobalt and the bad mining practices in the DRC where 70% of cobalt is produced. Most practices that reduce cobalt currently come with downsides due to the removal of cobalt. Nyobolts comes with huge upside. It would seem it’s a game changer for all lithium batteries not just EVs. Ever heard of a laptop battery expanding?
