At a time when most posters are ignoring the Syria wars on this forum Turkey's predicament escalates.

As I've posted repeatedly, Erdogan's game of playing Putin off against Trump and vice versa can only lead to tears and disaster for Turkey.

And so as Erdogan alienates the US and the EU by purchasing unnecessary S400s while looking to purchase Sukhoi 57 jets Erdogan has also managed to alienate Russia by agreeing to set up a joint operations centre with the US with a view to defending Al Qaeda and like minded militia positions in Syria's Idlib Provence. Russia's apparent response was to directly bomb Turkish observation posts 8 and 9 along the lines of control in Idlib.

Even controlled media sources in Turkey are projecting the views of the main opposition party (CHP) regarding the incoherence of Turkey's foreign policy.

Where will this lead? Erdogan is probably aiming to use the chaos as a means of controlling ( annexing) Syria's North. Maybe he thinks that another 20 minute phone call with Trump will do the job, Trump has repeatedly been told be generals and advisors coming in and out of the Administration's revolving door that they cannot betray (or be seen to betray) loyal allies so who knows what will happen militarily.

Economically Turkey is in crisis however Erdogan doesn't need to care. Those who are owed money by insolvent Turkish corporations do need to care. Spanish and Italian banks are high on this list.

    cheers
