He can't do it and retain respect from anyone ...... which is why he has no respect or support outside of Turkey.
For the record he armed ISIS with the view that they would and could take out the PKK along with all Kurdish aspirations of nationhood. The use of those weapons against the Yazidi People has become Erdogan's genocide noting also that when the Yazidi genocide happened, ISIS was heavily impregnated by Turkish Intelligence Services (MIT).
One problem for Erdogan is that the Democratic Union Party of Syria (PYD) is not actually seeking nationhood, but rather the establishment of a decentralized form of secular civil governance which Erdogan and his cadres fear will one day spread to Turkey itself. Thus the complete destruction of majority Kurdish towns in south east Turkey which is now being followed by an ethnic cleansing agenda.
