Turkey became (By Kemal Ataturk) a secular state in the 1920's to the extent it had implemented certain anti-islamic laws..... Malaysia's population is about 55% muslim. the other 45 % (mainly Chinese and Indians) is not muslim. Also, Malaysia had been westernised first by the Portuguesed, then by the Dutch and finally by the English...... As for Indonesia, well it was never a strong islamic country.....It's religion, even today is more syncretic (old animistic beliefs, unified with Boudhist and Hinduism:see Bali) with islam being only the dominant belief system....
