Therein lies your problem. Try not watching any tv and see how you go, it will be eye opening. Read some research or journals. Talk to the companies directly. There is enough access to primary information now without needing it prefiltered by a journalist. Heck I saw one guy use flight simulator to fly over a mine site to see how they were progressing.
To suggest that being environmentally conscious and to be pro mining is not possible is also wrong. The infrastructure needed for a sustainable future will require more mining then ever. Doesn't mean it cant be done intelligently. Take a look at neometals, jubilee or deepgreen. Its just a different mindset to move towards a future without fossil fuels. Its like I'm for commercial selling of spades, but against sales of guns. Doesn't mean I'm against selling things overall.
