    It's greens and labor that want Turnbull as coalition leader presumably so he will rubber stamp labor's unwanted policies. I don't know why he doesn't go to labor.

    From the link you provided:
    "Mr Turnbull has much stronger support among Greens and Labor voters."

    and from another article it shows that Abbott and, to a lesser extent, Gillard are still preferred with their own supporters:
    "In politics, as in sport, it is more important who the home crowd barracks for. In which case both Gillard and Abbott should be safe from sacking, with Gillard enjoying 66 per cent first preference support among Labor voters and Abbott 74 per cent support from Liberals."
