Yes! MrAbbott's continued talking down of that ALP Govt economy (although he said he would never do that) has come back to hurt him with business and consumer confidence low; even with rates at 2%! $8 billion unnecessarily given to the RES Bank; scrap carbon tax and its billions; $400,000 per off shore detainee per year; if 3% rates were 'emergency levels' what do people think of 2%? MrAbbott gave the promise that all would be repaired as soon as he put his behing into the big chair - he may be open for business, but he forgot to buy stock! Failing to support car manufacturers so that we can buy a foreign subsidised car has left allied industries with little hope of reinvesting to make a bigger buck; MrAbbott's combative style in opposition and Govt where everything is attacked and demonised means that needed reform can't take place unless you wish to lose. MrAbbott has been caught out far to often with broken promises, twisting of facts, that only real loyalists believe him - so when a PM is on the nose, so is the economy he runs - there is a loss of faith, of hope.
Right wing politics and policies are not working in this environment - how can you find concensus when you demonise charity groups, the Ed system, unions, and only listen to big industry lobbyists (BCA's mining, finance, and multinationals) and Liberal Kate Carnell's ACCI. MrHockley was ghoing to recover 10s of billions in lost taxes - now that has been shelved - why?
MrAbbott's cuts to needy groups put the nation psyche back into the days of the great divide between us and them. That all sectors of the nation were not to share the burden, was a poor image to set to repair.

Too much of MrAbbott's actions were based on wedging Labor for political gain - instead of being dictated by what the nation needed. Aust is among the lowest taxing countries in the OECD because MrHoward gave so much of the first mining boom away to win elections in the form of tax cuts. If any PM tries to increase those low tax rates, s/he will be crucified. Favouring coal over renewables was a poor decision since the new would not have supplanted the old over night, both could have been pushed.
