    As you may know the RET is winding down anyway.
    There was a suggestion to replace it with a CET.
    Instead it's suggested that retailers will need to provide guarantees.

    It's estimated that when the RET goes it will result in a price saving to an average household bill of $115 in 2019.

    It's early days yet but I'm trying to work out how the requirement for retailers to purchase a set percentage of their supply from despatchable sources, the specific percentage dependent on their region, will result in price reductions.
    Unless they regulate prices.

    In the short to medium term some of the reliability issues that lead to blackouts are as a result of the sun going down, the wind dropping and exiting thermal generators failing in the heat.

    So what's needed is more investment in despatchable generation under a bi-partisan energy policy that will be in place for 10 years so that industry can invest with confidence.
