Dex, I thought watso was dreamin' but good luck with that plea to newby half-term senators by reasoning with them they ought pay the public purse in advance.
You're perhaps forgetting that these 76 newly elected senators all have to perform in the public eye via the lenses of popular media and that they were all popularly elected by today's disparate aggregate of social-media fixated voters with short-term memories at best and without the past luxury of a Senate Group Preference ticket.
I can't help but wonder how long it will be before you revert in frustration to your previous position on the merit of the Upper House.
What was it, something along the lines of,
"Well IMO the senate is dispensable..."
