It has been a political stuff up from when Telstra was initially sold. Howard was advised to split the wholesale/retail then. Talk of structural separation around when Rudd was elected had Telstra saying it would cost $1 billion. Sounds cheap in hindsight. Enter the egos of Rudd and Conroy and we have another monopoly that replicates the original Telstra minus the retail.
Enter Turnbull who says he can fix the mess. .....
