Abbott was replaced for removing the carbon tax. There was a subsequent full court press of global media against him until voters were negative enough for him to be safely knifed. Yeah sure he's a knob, but he was the same knob they supported to get him voted in. They expected a similar Carbon tax back down as Gillard was ordered to do.
