I'm not convinced by the pumped hydro part but expanding our hydro electricity generation would be a big step in the renewable direction and it's proven viable - whether it would be cost effective with idiots like the CFMEU holding the country to ransom with silly demands is another question. Surely places like QLD with the massive rainfall they get could be entirely hydro powered - heck we could stop building desal plants at the same time.
