Strange that given that you think Abbott could have lead to a win, yes LNP had a big win in 2013 but fact is the drovers dog could have won the election as labor was very much on the nose.
There is no evidence what so ever that Abbott could have won again but having trailed well behind in the polls for 18 months under Abbott and Abbott himself was very unpopular was compelling indication LNP could not win with Abbott leading. Obviously the greater majority of the liberal party thought so too
