Thats exactly right - the Libs knifing useless trecherous Mal is the last thing Bill Shorten wants. Bill will being doing his very best to keep the dithering twit in power as long as possible - its the only thing keeping him (Bill) competitive.
If convictionless dithering Mal wasn't PM, Bill would be politically shot by his left wing faction. (Albo / Tanya would have done him in by now).
Shorten is desperately keeping the dither on political life support because if Mal is shot the libs will result in them installing a conservative that will clean him out. The Liberals ratings will be through the roof if they did.
