I wouldn't say dead, certainly not healthy.
Just like anything else it needs to evolve to stay relevant and effective for the time.
Politicians/ interest groups have learnt how to work the current system to influence outcomes that are not representative of the majority.
Politics should never be a career for anyone. Don't let them stay in long enough to milk the system.
It is not in the politicians interest to change the system.
This is part of the problem.
It can only happen if a party is elected on a platform of reforming our democracy, otherwise it wont happen.
If the republican movement wants to ditch the crown they need to start running candidates, not courting the current political crop.
They cant do a deal on gay marriage, what's the chance of getting a republic up LOL.
