LOL .. Trenton, I wasn't suggesting China will be an overnight sensation. It won't be that china overtakes the US, so much as the US losing momentum, and it'll take place over a decade ...
... plus, you've got to look into what the GDP of the US is composed of. A lot of it is non-productive services, whereas in China, with their relatively stripped back economy (no social security, cheap healthcare), the GDP is more fundamentally based in production of goods.
Added to which, a lot of American factories have moved overseas where the trade off has been cheap labour in return for American know-how, which is seeding the renaissance of China and Asia.
And last but not least. Being a one party state, China is much more agile and responsive than the US with its cumbersome and argumentative political process. Could go on,, but it's not appropriate to the thread ...
So ... regarding MAE ... I'm in up to the hilt, largely because, as someone said, winter is coming up and it'll be a cold one ...
...and if MAE can lift production in time, the cash-flow will help to alleviate the pressure of their debt, which is what I think a little too high.
cheers all .. its an interesting conversation ... for HC anyway.
