NewEnergy Ltd (ASX:MBT) reported a net profit of $2.28 million for the
year to June 30 2008, compared with a loss of $1.82m in FY07.
Revenue was $24.08m against $1.51m.
The first biodiesel refining plant in Malaysia of 100,000 tpa was
commissioned during the year with production quality exceeding the
required international standards.
The biodiesel plant is also the first outside Germany to be
included in the coveted AGQM BPAC quality certification.
The second plant of 250,000 tpa is currently under construction
and is expected to be completed within budgeted capital cost.
Upstream feedstock business in India is expanding with
approximately 178,000 acres of land under jatropha plantings.
The company has been receiving enquiries from Africa, Germany,
United Kingdom, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Columbia, Italy and
Mexico for export of its products.
It also set up two wind mills of 1.65 MW each in the Maharashtra
India in February for generation of electricity. By the end of the year,
the two wind mills had generated and delivered 2,237,071 kwh of total
electricity under a power purchase agreement to the state.
