The historical grades from the Wangunai project in WA should give us a good indication of what to expect from the upcoming assay results due this week.

    "At East Lode, historical shallow drilling has returned better intercepts of 6m at 3.68g/t Au from 6m (WA058), 7m at 3.52g/t Au from 32m (WA074), 3m at 2.88g/t Au from 45m (WA092),5m at 2.01g/t Au from 24m (WA093), 6m at 1.33g/t Au from 7m (WA097), 2m at 23.59g/t Au from 4m (WAP116) and 1m at 20.40g/t Au from 8m (WAP129)."

There was some very high grade hits in there and over significant widths as well, all shallow to surface.

"At Far East Lode, limited shallow RAB drilling has returned better intercepts of 2m at 70g/t Au from 4m (WE9), 2m at 5.3g/t Au from 4m (WE4) and 2m at 25g/t Au from surface (WE17) with no follow-up drilling below a vertical depth of 20m."

The Far East Lode had some significant bonanza grade hits from surface as well.

Will be interesting to see what the current drilling turns up with deeper holes drilled down to 70m depth. We know St Barbara only mined down 30m to 40m depth, so what lays beneath could be quite surprising.
We know this area hosts high grade shallow to surface, now we just need to wait and see how much gold is still there and whether it extends deeper below the historical mined areas.

St Barbara appears to have mined and treated their gold at the nearby Bluebird Mill only 15Km's away from the Wangunai project.

"Historical mining in the early 1900s comprised a series of small, shallow underground mines that focused on narrow high- grade zones of mineralisation. Whilst there was a revival of exploration in the 1980s, none of the various explorers sought to focus on the possibility of deeper mineralisation below the supergene oxidised zone."
