Helicopter operator NHV Group has been awarded a contract by Australia-based FAR Limited for helicopter services in Gambia.
NHV informed on Thursday that a FAR subsidiary, FAR Gambia Limited, awarded the contract for the provision of helicopter transport services out of Banjul (Gambia).
NHV also said that the operations are expected to start in the third quarter of this year and that two H155 aircraft are dedicated to this operation.
FAR has interest and operatorship in two highly prospective offshore blocks, A2 and A5, in The Gambia.
The blocks cover an area of approximately 2,682km2 within the rapidly emerging and prolific Mauritania-Senegal-Guinea-Bissau Conakry (MSGBC) Basin. They lie approximately 30km offshore in water depths ranging from 50 to 1,200 meters.
In combination, Blocks A2 and A5 have potential to contain prospective resources in excess of one billion barrels of oil (on an unrisked, best estimate, 100% basis).
These two blocks are adjacent to and on trend with world class SNE oil field discovery where FAR also has interest.
