hey lets not forget that its also an extremely tough business getting into gas fuels dealing with govts who are already heavily influenced (scare by) the mighty gas giants.

according to Forrest, our national problem with gas supply, superbly engineered by the mighty giants, has ensured they make tremendous profits while keeping the cost of LNG low enough to keep potential competitors out of the action. he also seems to allude to problems getting his hydrogen splitter electrolysers working efficiently to produce adequate gas. I'm not sure of the details as he was rather vague.

its new technology and expensive to set up, just like nuclear, but once up and running it will be a much lower cost. so of course the LNG companies will fight like hell to keep Forrest out of the market.

but of course Cater will argue strongly for LNG and downplay Forrest's activity and his decision as a weakness.

its difficult to draw conclusions with new tech. there are so many factors at play that a single cause is not the way to look at it.
