twist off and fishing

What a day, first, first EGO comes up with a duster at SF-1 & now CTP have a twist-off & are fishing for pipe down the hole. What are the odds of good news coming out today!!

Ok here's the translation,

Current depth: 2128m
Total Depth: 2500m
Formation: Somewhere in the upper Tirrawarra Sst
Situation: Twist-off (aka stuck pipe)
Solution: Fish the pipes left in hole

What its like: Imagine sticking a pen in a thick gooey clay, when u pull it back forcefully, some of it could get left behind & u end up with the upper part (imagine getting bogged in quick-sand or just clayer mud).

Twist-offs & Fishing are common in the oil patch. Many reasons for this. At B-1, we've got a thicker silty formation (the Purni) the swelling clays can clog around the pipe & cause a tight hole, so when the driller pulls up to make a connection, he could b pulling out some of the drill-string & the rest is stuck in the hole. Get it!!

How to retrieve the left section of the drill string?
They run a bigger diameter pipe over the 4.5" pipes & ram them on top & pull the string out slowly. This generally works, if not they cement the pipe in the hole & possibly sidetrack (which could take some time & i dont want to see that).

Here's hoping they get the fish (metal pipes) out safely, so we can see some drilling later in the week.
