I see where you're coming Ya from regarding the thickness, however its better too thick than too thin in this instance.
Geological technicalities (seal and reservoir) are of greater significance than drilling technicalities and associated time. Drilling is always going to be challenging regardless of the material..
The purni could contain shale, siltstone, coal and sandstone.
