Incitec Pivot accused of trying to block private fertiliser import

A senate inquiry in Canberra has heard more evidence of price fixing, monopoly and collusion in the fertiliser market - specifically involving fertiliser giant Incitec Pivot.
New South Wales grain grower Ron Greentree told the Senate Select Committee on Agricultural and Related Industries that when he imported 10,000 tonnes of urea, Incitec Pivot intervened and "put everything in the way to ensure that (he) could not get it".
Mr Greentree said he finally got the shipment, albeit two months late, and it saved him more than $300 a tonne on the retail price.
He admitted to the committee that he didn't have any evidence that it was Incitec Pivot who intervened.
