That's probably true about power supply.... it sounds reasonable enough.. however I would think that that is based purely on power station supply and nothing else... if homes were to go more into solar, and power storage facilities, (like tesla power wall eg)  then that demand on supply would be greatly reduced... to the point that an inner city car may only travel 200km a week. With a 400k range, that's two weeks between charges- in theory at least..  even in sun deprived old england that would be enough time to charge the wall and push that into a car battery..
again, in theory, you could run your car without using any fossil fuel source...IN THEORY....
let's say this was true, at what financial cost would it come? Can oil and gas drop their prices, given what they're used to getting.. can the government's work out another source of income if the excise revenues drop too much?? Who knows....None the less, all of this requires lithium, graphite, copper and piles of other trace metals...

so even if EV cars make it to 2% in 10years  that's a whole bunch of materials required... the big push should be on home (or commercial) solar and power storage... those prices will drop and become  a feasible competitor to coal power... not to mentio n the ever increasing base of people that can already afford a system like the power wall....

deny it all you like, but it is happening. Just slowly for now....
