They are putting out the tender to build a 25k tpa plant, due to begin construction next year, and then hope to increase this to 50k tpa 2 years later on. Its seems they are aiming to produce first LCE in 2021.

You don't invest $380 million (or spend that amount) on a process that doesn't work.
Thing is, what will they be doing with their brine in the meantime?
Imagine a deal with AGY - "we'll convert your brine to product until your plant comes online, then, IF, your process is a winner - we'll reverse the technology deal and you can convert our product."

Imagination is a wonderful thing.
Pure speculation.
