Yes, the major motor vehicle companies are not going to let Tesla have the BeV market all to themselves and they have the resources and deep pockets to ensure that their BeVs are priced more attractively.
Musk is aware that Tesla faces a real challenge from more mainsream motor vehicle companies which is why he has diversified the company into battery production.
I still dont like how he slags off hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles as such vehicles have been around for a while and can clearly co-exist with BeVs. Car makers have not ignored FCeVs despite what people think and the logistics of hydrogen extraction, storage and distribution is being dealt with.
I still would not hold Tesla shares long term.
