Here he talks about the Livent process under "Selective Absorption" and other stuff.
Very much worth the read on history of lithium extraction, production, "DLE" commercial viability from someone with heaps of experience and patents saying that is it hard to come up with a process to extract lithium from your brine source and ever harder to make it commercially viable... one should take note.

On another matter.
Pablo started working at FMC Fenix operation 1997.
The operation was commissioned in 1998 if memory serves.
It is unclear but given the changes to the FMC process from the original design, it must be that Pablo an Co added the evaporation ponds based on the patent he filed in 2011 under FMC.
This patent talks about concentrating the LiCl to 9000mg/L before using sorbents to extract the Li using polycrystalline hydrated alumina pellets.
This must have been done for economical reasons.
Anyone with info, please share.
