The hysteria around asylum seekers via boat saddens me.

The small amount of these people arriving by boat in comparison to other methods of arrival has been lost in discussions of thinly-veiled bigotry and hysteria. Not here guys, but in the general media.

I served in Vietnam in '68/'69. I saw first hand how some can take the moral high ground of nationalism, and in turn perpetrating atrocities in the name of a better nation.

Nationalism, for some, is the hideout to express bigotry. Happened many times throughout civilisation, will happen again. Starts many a war, my friends.

I know I'm in the minority when I say, after due process, we should welcome these people with love and open arms.

Most people don't know what you'd do if you and your family were forced from your home, a family member murdered, shot at, etc. I know I wouldn't hang around and die!
