This needs a geo or driller for more complete answer but in very broad terms:
RC - reverse circulation...a percussive form of drilling that produces rock chips which can then be size-graded for further analysis.
Diamond - hollow core diamond drill bit which rotates and produces core samples...those long rock cylinders often seen saved in boxes. These show the exact strata being drilled.
My understanding is RC drilling is often used initially in broad scale programs (quicker/cheaper?) and diamond drilling later for more precise determination of mineral characteristics (slower and more costly?)
