You probably wont be alone in clinging on hopefully to a busted scam and hoax...
I remember reading an article some time ago about some of the Madoff scam victims who were still hopefully waiting and praying for his vindication and the return of their swindled cash...
Very sad really to see denial like this...
Just as the AGW hoax was at one time on fire with various opportunists rushing as fast as they could to get their vision of the looming AGW climate apocalypse as front page news and get the easy-grant-cash flowing into their bank accounts, a similar acceleration and mad rush to distance themselves from the failed AGW hoax will also start to steam-roller as the collapse of the AGW hoax gains steam...
That is much the social dynamics of our communities...
Hopefully we can all learn from the AGW hoax and understand that science and the scientific/peer review process is a basic building block of our communities...
We allow it to be corrupted by charlatans AGW-style at our peril as then every bit of data, every basic building-block of science must then be parsed, filtered and corrected based on an enforced cult-like dogma rather than on the physical world...
The soviets tried a similar "government-dogma-enforced-science" with Lysenkoism which worked to some extent for the communists of the day, at least accomplished the goals of repression that the government intended" in an essentially closed-off USSR...
With our relatively more open societies and communications, scientific results by mandate has proven to be somewhat unworkable...
Similarly some of the deep roots of the current GFC has been the over reliance on computer models of the behavior of complicated baskets of financial products... As almost inevitably happens, these computer models and projections work well for sometime within defined ranges of variations and then stop working and in this case, leading to close to systematic financial meltdown across the world...
