re: paul100:two more us contract wins Paul100, I've appreciated your many contributions over the course of the c-in-e thread. My thanks.

These latest contract wins really do point to the way this market will travel in the future. More and more cities coming to the conclusion that red light cameras (and speed cameras increasingly too) have a legitimate role in improving public safety - and doing so in the most cost effective manner.

The research supporting red light cameras' role in reducing accident rates at intersections is now extensive and compelling (notwithstanding the noise of the 'infringing on our liberty' opposition). With current and forseeably continuing funding constraints that all city councils are subject to (with the subsequent limitations on what they are able to do), the self-funding nature of the red light camera model is going to become increasingly attractive to city councils.

In the face of this, the apparent trend to increased acceptance by more and more state legislatures to embrace red light cameras, it looks like this market growth will expand exponentially. As I noted earlier, this market in the US (and other areas of the world too) is really only in its infancy. As such it has huge growth potential - for example, look at the Chicago contract, which itself might end up being around 100 approaches.

And it is in this market that RDF is winning almost every contract it is bidding for. Comments from police clearly indicate they view RDF as the supplier of choice. Their dominant market share is likely to continue and on recent experience would have to be set to grow even further!

One to watch for the future.
