VMY register is dominated by large long term investors with little free float available. I haven't checked BOE but my feeling is that it is more of a retail shareholder base. BOE also has 1.5 Billion shares on issue which means that every step along the way there will be sellers. I held it last year and that was definitely the case. BKY also has a large institutional shareholder base and little free float.
It's a balance because you want enough retail shareholders to create the trading interest.
One of the biggest mistakes small cap investors make is, for example, pursuing companies with 1 Billion shares at 10 cents versus companies of 100m shares at $1. Same market cap but I can tell you which I would rather be in assuming equivalent prospects.
If the market really runs wainui is right and it wont matter.
