Denman, the first thing I read about Peter Andrews was the first thing that led me to be sceptical of him, and was the first question I put to him when I eventually met him.
It was a story about a huge quantity of hay being cut on his property without any fertiliser being applied. I had previously contacted the journalist who wrote the story, and contacted his website without any response. Peter explained it very clearly, the story simply wasn't true.
He went on later telling us about how productive the farm was now with his son running it, including cutting hay. He never mentioned fertiliser, and I caught up with him again afterwards and asked about it. He confirmed that in fact his son was applying fertiliser and when I asked him how he felt about it he said that he wasn't happy but when it comes down to if you want to make money from the farm, then perhaps some principles have to be sacrificed.
I am prepared to take more notice of him now, because he does at least grudingly recognise that at the end of the day, people need to be fed.
